What to do with electronic and other waste

The Problem

Electronic and other waste, including technical equipment and phones. Every so often, computers become obsolete. Components get changed. Fans, battery-operated, too. It all dies. Most get replaced or upgraded. What happens to the parts that can’t be used anymore?

British Columbia, the westernmost province in Canada, has had a diverse history regarding its attitude towards the impact and disposal of end-of-life items, particularly plastics and electronics. We share a provincial vision of having zero impact on our collective environment. Handy Circle is very aware of our impact. We all should be. Most of you are. In-house, collectively with several offices, we all have to be. At 490 Quebec St, our cardboard and paper waste are separated within the building and collected by the ton, if not delivered by building staff and volunteers to one of the Encorp return locations in Prince George. The rest is collected by the services of the community. All of our ‘dead’ electronics go to Encorp to be refurbished and redistributed as working technology. Even Large appliances

After that, the server brings the bill. The content we provide is free on this website, by a volunteer, and we hope you enjoy it. The non-profit behind this website is presently unfunded and survives completely with donations. We are a resource centre for people with a disability, aka ‘with an affliction’. This service can empower our clients. We do that service free as well, using our time and valuable skills.
