It’s not easy to do in the winter, but keeping fit is paramount to health. Ken, Lorraine, Susan or even co-blogger Stephanie might be seen at any one of these public venues within the regional district. Did you know about the City of Prince George’s Leisure Service Pass? It can help you get to many venues hosted by the City. Consider it your first step to fitness. Then read on. Oh yeah. Many supported by the Province of BC have a useful bus pass. Where do you go? Many recreational facilities have bus stops close by. In 2025, recipients will not get a sticker to upgrade the pass annually like in the past. They now click at the gate like a paying rider.
Vehicles are diverse, from 4*4s, cars to accessible vans. They’re as diverse as vehicles are. Toss in Electric Vehicles and Hybrid and it gets way more diverse, and confusing, particularly if explained by me. All exist within Prince George, the short story. The parks locally listed for pedestrians include you out of your vehicle too. But you have further options. So many nature parks, in the regional district. Snowshoe adventures. Cross Country and Downhill Skiing. Concerts in neighboring communities. A new service can get you to those places and others too, even if you have no ride. Check them out via the Carefree Society’s website! A walk or roll in nature is very therapeutic, however you arrive!
This includes younger people who live with an affliction, perhaps supported federally or provincially, perhaps even with a bus pass supplied by the Province of British Columbia. There are a number of indoor walk areas and at least one club at Pine Center Mall. The Kopar Memorial Arena downtown allows public independent walking on weekdays and another club operates at the CN Center. The parks and recreational areas that exist around the city are kept open and accessible year round. Wear appropriate footwear on hikes. Nature is our backyard, and if you have snowshoes, plenty of parks such as Forests for the World are within reach by BC Transit, 364 days of the year.
