Navigating Affordable Healthcare Options in Prince George
Wellness Programs and Their Benefits
Wellness programs are set to promote health, productivity and well-being. They bring camaraderie to the team, thoughts of positivity, and care on the way home after work. Do you work in an office or any other occupation like that? Kudos if you do. Does it have any wellness programs running? Can you name them if they do? Is the crew you work with as cheerful with each other as they are with you, your clients, or your customer base?

Understanding Affordable Healthcare in Prince George
Affordable healthcare is preventive maintenance on your body. In Canada, healthcare is mostly free for Canadian residents in their respective provinces and, in most cases, nationally. Maintaining a good relationship with your family doctor or regular checkups at a ‘walk-in clinic‘ in the absence of a family doctor saves healthcare costs for serious, unchecked conditions. 811, the BC Nurses Line, will often save a visit to the Emergency Room. They might refer you to a pharmacist, your family doctor, or a walk-in clinic. If an ambulance is required, it’s a smoother journey on a gurney all the way home.
Local Resources for Affordable Healthcare Options
In Prince George, we have the Prince George Urgent and Primary Care Centre, numerous naturopathic doctors, foot doctors, dentists, and denture specialists. I’ve only linked one business to each health specialty, beyond the UPCC, which is the only one serving Prince George. A quick Google search showed many specialists working on specific body and skin care issues. Most are not covered by medical plans. Oral plans like dentures and dental work could have specialist insurance plans from Provincial and Federal sources, for PWD & affordable for everyone.
Steps to Access Affordable Healthcare Options
The most affordable healthcare program, believe it or not, is a morning walk. All you need is a smile, appropriate clothing and a good pair of walking shoes. A walk in nature is best, but a walk on a sidewalk can be beneficial too. Is there a gas station, coffee shop, or diner within a few blocks of home? A morning routine could be strolling to get a morning coffee and a breakfast treat. Routine visits to your family doctor for checkups beyond that. If chronically ill and new symptoms come up, contact your family doctor first. Use 811 before 911 if you can. Eat well and maintain a good social life. Come visit us. Call ahead: 250-563-1852 or email hcrspg@gmail.com, and bring a coffee (one for us too, please) if before noon and support our neighbour! That social thing is a word away!
