Navigating Employment and Volunteering Opportunities in Prince George
Exploring Employment Options in Prince George
Do you find yourself unemployed? Do you have a decent, well-stocked Resume? Also called a CV, or Curriculum Vitae, which differs in structure from a Resume. Some jobs prefer one over the other. Both list your previous employment history, as well as an opening cover letter explaining what attracted you to the job and your eagerness to be hired. But where do you look for jobs to submit a resume or a CV? You might look at the newspaper ads or online for help wanted, or network by just dropping the CV at a dozen+ places in the hope someone hires you. Work BC has an office in Prince George, as well as a satellite office in Kopar Administration, for your best chances of finding employment. If you don’t have a CV or Resume, they can help you build one. They also have Job lists to find that perfect position. If you need to be retrained, they may offer you funding if needed.

Volunteering Opportunities in the Community
Has it been a while since you were employed? Volunteerism may help your self-confidence in looking for gainful employment, honing the skills you have or teaching you new ones. But where do you look to volunteer? What are your interests? Is it youth groups you want to work with? Are sports your thing? Office work? Blogging? Even marketing…. The opportunities are very diverse, not limited to office work, but also to people management and accounting. There is a local agency for this to find those opportunities and get them to you. Get to know Volunteer Prince George. They send out monthly flyers with many diverse opportunities and their contact information listed. You can volunteer with the office skills you have, management abilities and leadership roles, etc., as diverse as you are. You could even become a board member directing a Non-Profit or a Charitable organization. I wrote a post a while back about skills learned volunteering. Many organizations will ask for a Resume or CV.
