Communicating with the City of Prince George
Introduction
The City of Prince George has had an Advisory Committee on Accessibility (ACA) since before 2010. In 2023 the province adopted a policy of Inclusion, with the nation. Many cities with Accessibility Committees in British Columbia added Inclusion to the name. This change occurred by January 2024. The committees after 2024 will be known as the Advisory Committee on Access and Inclusion for their respective community.
Communications with our city
Before 2020, The City of Prince George adapted an App. It was available to download to any mobile communication device. The app communicated with the City’s services department. In 2023, the ‘think tank’ began developing that app. The ‘think tank’ created the City Sourced program in 2024. There are 3 ways to report any issue that prevents your inclusive participation in Prince George life outside your home. Are there any animals, needles, or garbage, on the sidewalk or in your yard? Potholes? Chickens, or other animals, feral or otherwise, invading your space? Graffiti? Feces, animal or human, on sidewalks? Broken and inaccessible sidewalks too. Crimes like vandalism and the damage caused? If it is happening, call 911 right away. Report the damage to the city if it occurs in public areas or city infrastructure. Do this if you think the city can handle it in private areas. The 3 ways are by calling 311 from any local phone, emailing 311@princegeorge.ca. You can visit the front counter. It is located at the City of Prince George city hall, 1100 Patricia Boulevard, Prince George, BC V2L 3V9. An old school phone number exists as well as a fax line too.

In Closing
Handy circle has had it’s office at 490 Quebec St in Prince George for at least 30 years. In mid-2024, we received news that our historic funding had dried up. To that end, we have ways you can help us. Please contact our office at (250-563-1852 or hcrspg@gmail.com). Call one of the cell phone numbers, if you know, for Susan or Lorraine. Ask how simple it would be to help us support you and our community of followers. Thank you in advance. Hope to talk to you soon.
